Short answer
Hyundai Sonata is abundant at US auctions and is a cost-effective choice for its price. When buying, pay attention to three main things: engine variant, damage location (especially radar and sensors in front collision) and whether the mileage is genuine. We have also imported Sonata from the US — you can view the cars we imported.
Engine variants (generation after 2020)
- 2.5 litr atmosfer — the most common and simple variant.
- 1.6 litr turbo — more fuel-efficient, in trims like Limited and SEL Plus.
- 2.5 litr turbo (N Line) — sport version, more powerful and expensive.
- Hibrid — low fuel consumption in the city; battery condition should be checked separately.
Engine Avro-4 compliance with requirements is usually not a problem for this generation, but we verify with VIN for each lot.
Komplektasiya
In the US, Sonata is sold in trims such as SE, SEL, SEL Plus, Limited, N Line. Limited is the most complete version. Match the trim in the listing title VIN check with — sometimes the listing contains errors.
Inspection checklist before purchase
- Front impact: radar, front camera and LED headlights are expensive parts — ADAS repair.
- Airbags: if deployed, add repair cost — details.
- Run and Drive statusu and key availability.
- Mileage note: should be "Actual".
- In hybrid: no water damage or undercarriage damage.
- Recalls: checked by VIN; if there is an open recall, note it.
US or Korea?
Sonata's domestic market version is also sold in Korea and it is easier to find undamaged cars there. In the US, however, the selection is wider and the price is lower. For comparison: Importing a car from Korea and Import a car from America.
